The David P. Gogolak Memorial Scholarship Fund  [Make a Contribution]

Dear Friends,

It has been 17 months since our friend David Gogolak was tragically taken
from us in a horrific accident in Montana at way too young an age.  While
Gogo will always be missed and loved, we have the opportunity to keep his
memory alive through the David P. Gogolak Memorial Scholarship Fund.  The
fund is a celebration of Gogo’s life and a chance to help others.
Generosity was a huge part of who Gogo was and we are asking all of you to
remember this quality, among others, by giving to Cornell in his name.

The David P. Gogolak Memorial Scholarship was officially established in May
of 2008 with the generosity of friends and family like you, and a matching
gift from David’s San Francisco bar, Hobson’s Choice.  These efforts yielded
$10,000, a great start, but now we need to work toward our goal of $50,000
with your continued help.

The money from the Gogo Scholarship fund will enable a candidate of the
Cornell Hotel Management School, possessing qualities admired in Dave, to
(hopefully) complete school in less time then Dave did, but with the same
appreciation for all Cornell offers.

Professor Giuseppe Pezzotti, a long tenured academic at Cornell who knew
Gogo well, is in charge of selecting a candidate whose character is similar
to Dave’s.  This student must value education and partying (not necessarily
in that order), love the outdoors, have a big heart, put family and friends
first, and be generous in his intentions and actions.

With your continued philanthropy we hope to raise $50,000 within the next
two years.  We understand the burden of these economic times, and the
responsibilities each of you have, but we need your help, and know we can
accomplish this if everyone joins the effort.  The easy part of the equation
is that Gogo touched so many people during his life, that the community we
are reaching out to is large.  We are confident the outpouring of support
from friends and loved ones will help us reach our goal quickly.  No gift is
too little and each is a chance to remember our friend.

Please look deep into your hearts to help this dream come true and keep the
Gogo name a lasting memory on the Cornell Campus.  On behalf of Kathy,
Peter, Nicole, Graylin, and Johnny Gogolak, we thank you in advance for your
support.

Best Always,
